Asian Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA) The voluntary welfare organisation was established to empower the disadvantaged through programmes for the elderly, disabled and families. Its elderly services provide sheltered housing to Singaporeans over 60 years old, community-based activities, rehabilitation and day care services. Centre For Seniors (CFS) This voluntary welfare organisation promotes the total well-being of seniors and helps them to take their rightful place as respected members in the family, community and country. Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC) This group strives to help those who are less capable and lower-income group, and the academically-weak students. CDAC introduced a new initiative in January 2006 called the Silver Talent Programme which targets retirees and older Singaporeans who are 50 years and above. CDAC helps those who are still having financial needs to earn an income and recruits retirees who are still active to serve in CDAC’s programmes as volunteers. It also set up Silver Enterprise to provide a platform for its trained silver talents a place to practise their skills, provide their services and stay self-reliance. |
