1:00PM – UNCOVERED: THE DROOPY EYELID & THE SAGGY UNDER-EYE | Dr. Terence Goh
The pathological droopy eyelid, also known as ptosis, can occur with old age. Depending on the severity of the condition, this can reduce and block vision when it obstructs the pupil. At the same time, as we age, due to the laxity of skin, the lower eyelid skin and fat can sag, causing unsightly eyebags that can make us look years beyond our age. Such conditions are the result of the inevitable natural ageing process. In this talk, Dr. Terence Goh will address common and stubborn eye problems that occur with age, and discuss how they can be surgically treated.
1:50PM – THE AGEING EYE: VISION-SAVING ADVANCES IN MEDICINE | Dr. Leonard Ang
Cataract, glaucoma, retina and cornea diseases are the leading causes of blindness in the world. Advances in eye disease treatment have significantly improved the success and safety of treating these common blinding eye diseases. In Singapore, more than 30% of people above 45 years of age have some degree of cataract. Dr. Leonard Ang will be sharing on advances in cataract surgery that have made it extremely safe and effective, improvements in lens technology that have enabled patients to achieve better vision with less dependence on spectacles and more.
