1:00PM – 1:50PM Dr Melvin Look | WHAT CAUSES CANCER AND HOW TO PREVENT IT
Cancer is the leading cause of death in Singapore. It arises from a complex interplay of genetic factors and carcinogens due to our lifestyle and diet. Many cancers can be prevented by reducing our exposure to these substances. We can treat pre-cancerous problems before they turn malignant by regular cancer screening. Cancer genomic testing for inherited cancer genes can also be done if there is a strong history of cancer in your family members.
1:50PM – 2:40PM Dr Jendana Chanyaputhipong | BEATING BREAST CANCER, TOGETHER
Breast Cancer is the No.1 cause of cancer-related female deaths in Singapore and the incidence is on the rise. We know early detection is key to a successful treatment outcome, which means possibly being cancer-free again. In this talk, we will highlight (1) the benefits of early detection, (2) how breast cancer can be detected early, (3) what a person may go through to get the abnormality tested, and (4) the available treatment options including reconstruction.
3:10PM – 4:00PM Dr Chong Kian Tai | UPDATES IN CANCERS OF THE URINARY SYSTEM – KIDNEY, BLADDER AND PROSTATE CANCERS
Cancers in the urinary system often do not produce any pain or symptoms. In this talk, we will highlight the prevention, diagnosis and treatment for kidney, bladder and prostate cancers.
4:00PM – 4:50PM Mr Caleb Mok | PREVENTING CANCER THROUGH DIET
Do you know that your diet can affect how your body manages external triggers that mutate DNA? Sadly, most of the time we compromise our diet, putting our body in a consistent stage of mild nutrient deficiencies. Without optimal nutrition, our body is unable to maintain optimal daily repair, not to mention preventing cancers. In this session, besides the challenges of cancer-prevention diet, you will also be enlightened by the ways to overcome them, turning your diet into medicine that prevents cancers.
